Visitor Attractions near to The Old School B&B Drymen

The Old School Bed and Breakfast is perfectly located for a wealth of visitor attractions. Glasgow and Stirling are both around 30minutes away and Edinburgh only about 1hr. However with so much to do right here on the doorstep there won't be time to get bored.

Distilleries

Scotland is of course known for its huge number of Whisky Distilleries but we think our local one is one of the finest. Glengoyne Distillery is often described as Scotland's most beautiful distillery and is just a short drive from the Old School Bed & Breakfast on the scenic A81. Glengoyne is open all year for guided tours, whisky tastings, private dining and the whisky shop. No visit is complete without a look in the superb whisky shop, which is full of different whiskies, gifts and collectables.

Shopping

For a small village Drymen has a surprising number of interesting shops, including craft shops, art galleries, pottery workshop, outdoor shop, library, local mini market, bank, post office & village store and butchers. There is also a delightful coffee shop with lovely open fire and bright conservatory. And if all this exhausts you there is a choice of two public houses, a hotel and a fine dining restaurant all on the village square in order to re-charge your batteries before the short walk home to the B&B.

Stirling Castle

A visit to Stirling Castle is an essential part of any visit to central Scotland. With its splendid decorative stonework and well preserved buildings it is one of Scotland's grandest castles. Its location rivals even Edinburgh Castle's for sheer magnificence as it sits on its high volcanic rock, visible for many miles in every direction. The Castle is in the care of Historic Scotland and is open to the public all year round and seven days a week.

Blair Drummond Safari & Adventure Park

As well as the animals a day out at Blair Drummond has plenty of other attractions to offer. There is a football pitch and other areas for playing ball games.

There's always plenty to do at Blair Drummond Safari Park, including: Daily Sea Lion Shows, Wild Animal Reserves, the chance to hold birds of prey and much more

Inchmahome Priory

Beautifully island-based Augustinian monastery founded in 1238. Much of the 13th century building survives. Open Easter - September.
